Scott F. McCrossin is the President and Owner of SFM Financial Planning. He began his career over 22 years ago at the public accounting firm, Coopers and Lybrand (now PriceWaterhouse Coopers). After working as a financial analyst at Shearson Lehman, Scott began a long, successful career at Smith Barney. While there, he became the assistant to the Vice Chairman of Smith Barney. During this time, Scott earned his MBA in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business while part of their Executive MBA Program. After graduating from this program, he transferred to the portfolio management division of Smith Barney and became a senior research analyst. In this position, Scott was responsible for researching companies with the goal of successfully identifying stocks to portfolio managers for inclusion in client portfolios. Based on his success as a senior research analyst, Scott was promoted to the position of portfolio manager. As a portfolio manager, he was responsible for the investment portfolios of high net worth individuals and large institutions ultimately managing approximately $850 million in client assets. The Asset Management division of Smith Barney/Citigroup was then sold to Legg Mason where he continued on as a portfolio manager. Scott's desire to offer unbiased independent financial planning at a reasonable cost ultimately led to his departure from the corporate world to establish SFM Financial Planning.
